It’s been a crazy-ass year. You don’t need me to tell you that. But not all of the crazy is bad. Some of it’s just weird.
Take last weekend’s “MJF gets into a Twitter feud with Dionne Warwick” item. Who saw that coming? Well how about this one…
A fan posted a Cameo from D-Von Dudley where he claims he’s working on Punky Brewster, a sitcom property from the 1980s. Why is Brother D-Von working on a show about an orphan who was adopted by a cranky old man? We don’t know!
So that’s weird, but it may not even be the weirdest part. Dudley says Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair are part of the project!
D-Von Dudley is helping produce a reboot of “Punky Brewster” with Alexa Bliss & Charlotte!
This was confirmed via D-Von’s Cameo. Not my video but still- interesting news! Wonder how that’s gonna turn out! pic.twitter.com/P5TQ5XSfql

“I’m out here in LA, doing, producing – helping to produce a show with Alexa Bliss and Charlotte. It’s Punky Brewster, it’s an old 80s show here in America that we basically used to watch as a kid, and now it’s come back like everything else has from the 80s. And so now I’m out here producing and helping and choreographing, just like I do in WWE right now.”
D-Von’s not dreaming this. There is a Punky Brewster show coming to NBCUniversal’s streaming service Peacock. It’s not a reboot; it’s a continuation starring the orphan from the original as a single mom (still played Soleil Moon Frye) who crosses paths with another orphaned little girl. What are the odds!
Where do Bliss & Flair come in? In addition to the NBCUniversal connection (the company owns Raw’s home network, USA), that’s former WWE writer Freddie Prinze, Jr. as Brewster’s ex-husband. Maybe he’s a wrestling promoter?
My guess is D-Von, Alexa & Charlotte will be in a one-off episode that involves some wrestling. Punky Brewster sounds like Netflix’s Full House restart (or their The Big Show Show), and an episode where two WWE Superstars teach a young girl it’s okay to be herself would fit right into a TGIF-type series.
So that actually makes sense. It’s also worth wondering if this is part (or all) of the “Hollywood is interested in Charlotte” rumors we heard about earlier this year.
But don’t try to tell me you had “D-Von Dudley works with Alexa Bliss & Charlotte Flair on a new Punky Brewster show” on your 2020 bingo card.
