On This Day: Wrestlemania 7- Hogan/Slaughter, Macho/Elizabeth Reunite, Undertaker’s WM debut

Originally, Wrestlemania 7 was supposed to be at the LA Coliseum, but due to low ticket sales, they moved it to LA Arena. The original storyline planned was to have the Ultimate Warrior face Hulk Hogan in a Wrestlemania 6 rematch.

During the show’s buildup, the Gulf War was taking place. Typical Vince, he wanted the main event storyline to be topical. That’s why Sgt. Slaughter faced Hulk Hogan in the main event at Wrestlemania 7.

After Randy Savage interfered in the Ultimate Warrior’s championship match against Sgt. Slaughter at the Royal Rumble, Savage/Warrior wrestled in a retirement match at Wrestlemania.

This moment had everyone emotional in the audience. Years later, it’s still fun to watch their reunion.

Wrestlemania 7 was also the start of The Undertaker’s long Wrestlemania streak. His first opponent was against “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka.
