Riddle Still Wants Goldberg Match: I Could ‘redeem Him Completely’ (twitter.com)

If you thought any backstage confrontations were going to get Matt Riddle to stop talking about Goldberg, well… you don’t know Matt Riddle.

The former UFC fighter and current Raw Superstar talked about one of his dream matches during a recent chat with BT Sport. He’s even modified his pitch a little bit. I don’t know if it’ll work on Bill, but it actually makes me more interested in seeing a Riddle vs. Goldberg match:

“I think the only way I can get Goldberg in a ring with me is if it was like, he just gets to murder me [laughs] and I have to let him [laughs] like I have to let him do it. Because he couldn’t do it in real life. So, yeah, that would be that. I think he would agree to get in the ring with me if I just promised to just let him beat me up.

“If we could work it out any other way – cause my goal is, I would love to have a sweet match with him. I think I’m good enough where I can do it, and I think redeem him completely. And I’m not even saying win! I don’t have to win. I’m not that guy. I’m not that guy. I’m all about the quality of the work. So hey. If we could make quality work and you would, you know, be willing to listen to what I have to say, I’ll listen to what he has to say. I will.

“But I think it could be magical. And I think the fans would eat it up. And you know what, they would! Because the guy really doesn’t like me. And you know what, I really don’t like his work, to be fair. From Universal Soldier 3 and beyond – not a fan. But I get it. He’s got a presence, just like I have a presence. And, you know how we talked, he said, ‘Serious, I can’t be touched,’ and I’m the actual, ‘Serious. But go ahead and touch me, see what happens,’ I think it makes for a great match. I think it makes for great entertainment.

“I don’t think it’s gonna happen. I don’t think it’ll ever happen. He literally refused to acknowledge me on multiple occasions. I don’t blame him. The guy literally refused to acknowledge me on multiple occassions, in public forums, in interviews and everything. And I don’t blame him! The guy is like, ‘what if he shoots on me?’ Yeah, I would be scared too, bro. Enjoy your time. I think he has a couple more matches, and if he wants to come play, I’m here. I’ll be here for the next like ten years, if I’m lucky, you know. Definitely five. I got a hot five in me.”

As Bro says, word is Goldberg has a few more matches on his current WWE contract. One of those could come at WrestleMania 37 this spring, apparently. Anyone else interested in seeing Riddle try to “redeem” Bill in one of the other ones?
