Scarlett Returns Just As Finn Announces His New Year’s Evil Plans (www.cagesideseats.com)

NXT Champion Finn Bálor opened tonight’s episode of NXT. He was soon joined by a lot of people who have eyes on his gold.

After cutting a promo that said now that WarGames is over, it’s all about him. That’s when the interruptions started.

First it was Pete Dunne. He was on the losing effort in WarGames last Sunday, but still a stud (or a stallion as Riddle would say). Next came Kyle O’Reilly, who was on the winning side of that WarGames match. He reminded Finn that he broke the champ’s jaw in two places so they have unfinished business. Damian Priest, another loser at WarGames but a man who’s stock is continuing to rise, also stepped up.

Finn didn’t really want to hear those three bickering so he peaced. He told the guys that he will be defending his title at the Jan. 6 New Year’s Evil. Finding out who is General Manager William Regal’s job. That’s when Karrion Kross’ music hit.

Kross wasn’t there, but Scarlett was.

The Prince beat her to the punch, saying “Tick tock” and telling her when her boy is ready, so in the champ. He left but Priest had some words for Kross’ herald. He asked the “Smoke Show” (harkening back to her Impact gimmick) if Karrion just waits in the car as she does his work. But if the big man wants to fight, Damian is ready.

It’s inevitable we get some type of triple threat or fatal 4-way #1 contender’s match. That fourth wouldn’t be Kross. He shouldn’t have to qualify for a match. But Kushida wasn’t represented in this opening segment and if anyone deserves a title shot, it’s the Japanese superstar.

Who do you want to see Finn defend his gold against?
