The Young Bucks are set to challenge FTR for the AEW tag team championships at Full Gear on Nov. 7. But the match was immediately put in jeopardy when FTR attempted to break Matt Jackson’s ankle.
On tonight’s (Oct. 28) episode of Dynamite, Matt explained that there’s no way this injury will keep him off Full Gear.
The Young Bucks then addressed their heelish actions of late. They reflected back over the last year and realized that they lost their edge. Watching FTR manipulate their friend Hangman Page was too much, and they took out their frustrations on everyone else. They don’t regret it, because this is the mindset they need to remain focused on defeating FTR for the tag titles.
Even more, if they don’t win the tag titles at Full Gear, the Young Bucks will never challenge for the AEW tag titles ever again.
If that rings a bell, it’s because that’s the same stipulation that Cody Rhodes set for himself at last year’s Full Gear card when he challenged Chris Jericho for the AEW world championship. Cody went on to lose, and so AEW later created a new singles title (the TNT championship) for Cody to chase instead.
If the Bucks lose this year at Full Gear, how long will it be until we get some shiny new TNT tag team titles in AEW?
